A look back on 2018...

First of all — hello! I know this blog has been quiet. It’s been QUITE a year.

This year has been…heavy…for me. I anticipated that to a certain extent, because 2018 marked 20 years since my dad passed away, and that felt like a cloud looming over me for the first eight months of the year. And I knew this would be the year I turned 30, and I felt a certain type of unease about this particular birthday. There’s something about milestones that make you dive deeply and seek more clarity about who you are and what you want.

So now that we’ve reached the end of the year, and as I go through my annual year-end reflection process, I’m happy to say that I do have the clarity I need and am continuously working towards the life I want. There were so many wonderful moments experience throughout this year that slipped in just when I needed them the most. And I’m excited to share some of those moments with you now, to catch you up on what’s been going on in my life + business over the last 12 months.

The year kicked off with my first ride in a Mardi Gras parade with the Krewe of Nyx! This is me dancing during our ball, Nyx Myx. The JOY!

Always amazed at how communities form. Pictured here after a luncheon honoring my good friend, Fr. Daniel Green. I’m so proud of my friends and the good stuff they do!

Got into my very first car accident when someone rear-ended me in rush hour traffic. Thankfully no one was hurt, and the damage to my beloved Albie was minimal.

Spent a morning with the ladies of Black Girl in Om for Self-Care Sunday, which was just the experience I needed to recharge and refocus before the second half of the year.

Celebrated 30 years around the sun with a semi-solo trip to Washington, D.C., a city that never fails to inspire me. Especially happy that I was able to spend a few hours in the National Museum of African American History and Culture!
